Canvas Notifications

Setting up Notifications:  Follow these instructions (also from our Help Desk Knowledge Base) to set up notifications on personal email or text message.

1. Adding contact methods to Canvas Links to an external site.:  First set up your account to include a home email address, phone/text address, or other option by going into Account > Settings > Ways to Contact (on the right side of the page) > +Email Address or +Contact Method.
2. Editing Canvas notification preferences Links to an external site.:   After the additional email, phone, text, etc. are added, go into the Account > Notifications > select the new/additional contact method and choose the frequency of the notifications (right away, daily summary which is 4pm daily, weekly summary is 4pm on Friday, do not send).  I recommend that students set Announcement and Invitation to the Notify me right away setting and any other setting to their other preferences.

Canvas Mobile App:  Go into your class and on the Home tab, far right corner, is a How to Use Canvas blue button.  The Student Walkthrough tells many great things about Canvas and there is a specific page for the Canvas Mobile App.
