Why do people take notes? Many people take notes because they want to remember information.
Where do people take notes? People take notes at home, at school, at work, in the car, on the bus, and in many other places. They take notes on computers, in notebooks, on napkins, on sticky notes, or even on their hands!
What information do people write in their notes? Sometimes the information is important main ideas, and sometimes it is small, interesting details. Sometimes people write in a formal style, with complete sentences, and sometimes they write informal notes with only a few words. A to-do list, or a list of things you need to do, is a common informal note people write.
When you take notes for school, sometimes you take notes about what the teacher is saying. Sometimes you take notes about what a classmate is saying. Sometimes you take notes about what you are reading.
