In America, it is common for students to meet with their teacher to discuss their progress.  This is called a student-teacher conference.

Parents also meet with their children's teachers at least twice a year to discuss their child or children's progress.  This is called a parent-teacher conference.  Watch the video below of a parent-teacher conference.
