The purpose of this module is to get you exploring your resources and the great variety of arts out there today.

What aren't we doing?

We are not taking a class field trip, nor are we requiring a specific event or venue. We are not restricting ourselves to art museums or live shows in Seattle. You do not have to go to everything THIS week. Your are not writing a review.

So what ARE we doing?

This week is about exploration and getting things on your calendar. You will be looking at what is out there for the quarter so that you can do your two required Arts Experience Reflections. These are spaced throughout the quarter--you need to do one live and one virtual experience. The Virtual Tour assignment in this module should get your ready to do the virtual experience. It will not matter which type of experience you do first. Arts Reflection 1 is due April 22; Arts Reflection 2 is due May 30. [Note: these links may not be available at the time you first read this. You are encouraged to come back to this module, as it has resources and references for the Arts Reflection Assignments.]

Outcomes and objectives:

Identify and assess the local contemporary arts community and culture, and examine the tradition from which it evolved.

Experience the arts in person or virtually.
Assess contemporary arts and artists.
Investigate and identify the Puget Sound arts opportunities.
Reflect on and explain personal reactions to arts experiences.
