Leadership Development Program

Overview

A committee of TCC staff, faculty, and administrators created the Leadership Development Program (LDP) to better meet the professional development needs and interests of our college. The goal is to support staff and faculty to enhance leadership skills that can be applied in your fields, at the college, or with other outside interests. The 30 participants we've had to date enjoyed working on leadership projects while enhancing their communication and leadership skills.

This year, the LDP is a project-based, hybrid leadership development program where participants select and improve a process in which they are directly involved and empowered to change. The hybrid program will be taught by Organizational Learning and Effectiveness and e-Learning staff members. Please note space is limited to approximately 12 employees and not all applicants can be accepted for the 2020 cohort. There will be future opportunities to participate if you are unable to participate this academic year.

The LDP will run winter and spring quarters of 2020 with 11 in-person sessions focused on content and a leadership development process improvement project. We estimate the LDP will take approximately one hour of online work time weekly over two quarters in addition to attendance at the in-person sessions (~60 hours in total spread over two quarters).

  • Selection criteria: 
    • Current staff or faculty member at TCC
    • Availability to participate in in-person sessions and online interaction/assignments
    • Responses to brief essay questions (under 250 words per question)
      • Why do you want to participate in the Leadership Development Program?
      • What areas of your leadership are you hoping to enhance as a result of your participation in the program?
      • What ideas do you have for what process you may want to improve as part of your project? It's okay if you don't have ideas, but we want to know what you are thinking about working on.
