What Is Reading Apprenticeship?
Reading Apprenticeship® Links to an external site. is an instructional framework developed by WestEd's Strategic Literacy Initiative (SLI) for supporting students to become more independent, stronger, critical readers of multiple types of texts. Reading Apprenticeship has been developed with communities of middle school and high school teachers since 1996 and with community college faculty since 2002. In particular, community colleges in California Links to an external site. have conducted studies of Reading Apprenticeship in the STEM classes and found positive results.
