Counseling
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Counseling Program is to assist students from all backgrounds in achieving their full potential and help individuals define and accomplish educational, personal, social, and career goals. To develop and maintain this mission a variety of counseling interventions, instructional strategies and consultation services are provided by a professional, diverse staff. Classes are designed to increase retention, promote student success, and prepare students for the world of work.
PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES (PLOs)
Upon successful completion of any of the Human Development (HD) courses (not individual counseling sessions), students will:
- Determine/identify their own capabilities, interests, and values (RES).
- Design their own educational, personal, social, or career action plan (COK, COM, RES).
- Explain how own personal responsibility determines their success as a college student (COM, RES).
- Locate, use, and evaluate information technology and other college resources (COK, IIT).
- Participate in the college community (LWC).
- Contribute to team projects (LWC).
- Demonstrate an understanding of college culture (CRT).
