Do you have a paper, report, discussion board post, or other writing project?

Our tutors can provide support for important aspects of many writing projects: understanding assignment sheets, clarifying audience, developing clear thesis statements, reviewing of general organization and paragraph development, checking for coherence, polishing grammar and sentence structure, citing, and formatting.

Regular Hours:

Mondays, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Tuesdays, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Wednesdays, 9:00 am - 7:00 pm
Thursdays, 9:00 am - 7:00 pm
Fridays, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Saturdays, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm (in the library)

Just want a great space to study? We have that too: computers, couches, whiteboards, handouts, water, snacks (often!), and easy access to tutoring, all in one place!

We are conveniently located in building 7, room 221, upstairs from the Library.

To make an appointment come by the center, call us at 566-6032, or email us at tutoring@tacomacc.edu. Drop-ins are welcome on a first-come-first-served basis.

Want Online Tutoring Support?

If you are looking for help with the WTC (for writing/research and essays, English practice, social sciences, etc.), we can provide you with online appointments when you need them.

There are a couple of different paths you could take to make your online appointment and access it:

The BEST way is to add our Tutoring at TCC Canvas course to your course list in Canvas, so you always have access to all of our stuff. If you go to our website (below), and scroll down, you'll see "Online tutoring," which will lead you to our Canvas page ("enroll in course" and you'll always have access from your course list in Canvas). From there, you can get to both our online appointment making, our "Send a paper" option, AND the bigger eTutoring platform. There are directions for how to make your appointment in our Canvas page. It's just a couple of clicks! When you are ready for your appointment on zoom, you'll go to that same place and click on the zoom link for your appointment.

You can also go directly from our website to our appointment system (for in person or online--you can choose which when you make your appointment) as long as you are logged in with your TCC credentials. If you aren't already, it will prompt you to log in. You'll find that direct button to "make your own appointment" as you scroll down our webpage.

Send-a-Paper Tutoring

If you'd like tutor feedback on a draft, consider sending it in to our asynchronous service, Send-a-Paper. Turn-around time depends on demand, so please submit early! We usually have a 24-18 hour turn-around time. To get started, self enroll in the Tutoring Support Writing Help Canvas classroom.

Additional Online Options

eTutoring provides both asynchronous support (The Writing Lab) and face-to-face sessions for most subjects. Live tutors usually available from 5 AM – 11:59 PM. Closed July 4, Thanksgiving Day, and winter break (Dec. 20- Jan. 1).
