Purpose Outcomes Module Checklist Tips

Purpose

The purpose of this week's work in political science and English is to better understand the system of federalism in the United States, where power is divided between the federal government and the states, and, super importantly, how that divided government impacts our real lives and the lives of the people around us. In English, we'll dive into that topic as we:

practice writing strong paragraphs with clear main points and plenty of specific details/information to support them,
practice summarizing and analyzing information,
practice inserting citations to show where information comes from.

Outcomes

By the end of this module, you will be able to...

Define "federalism"
Discuss important impacts of the system of federalism on issues impacting us today, such as COVID-19 and the 2020 presidential election
Write effective paragraphs that include clear main points and well-explained discussions, summary and analysis of information from sources, and citations.

To help in the completion of this activity, you should…

To ensure you don't lose work, it is recommended that you work offline using a word processing application such as Microsoft Word and then copy/paste your post into the course's discussion forum.
Make sure to keep track of assignments and due dates. Because this is a Learning Community, you have assignments and due dates in both English and Political Science. So although we are often learning together in both classes, it's really important to make sure you are completing the assignments in each! In general, you have something do almost every day!
